Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed by fire in Malamawar Dangoli, Karangi, and Kwalele villages, in Kiyawa LGA of Jigawa State.
Affected by the inferno are residential houses, livestock, animals, farm products, and other belongings.
The Jigawa State police spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam while confirming the incident said, “No loss of lives recorded so far, but some of the family members suspected to have run for their lives are missing.”
He said a combined team of policemen and firefighters from State, Federal, and Airport Fire Services had assisted in putting off the fire.
Also, the Director of the State Fire Service, Ibrahim Abdullahi El-Y Gumel, attributed the cause of the fire to the burning of bamboo kept in the villages by unknown persons.
El-Y Gumel called on the people to discontinue burning bushes and refuse centers close to villages during this dry season.
