Three persons have been killed, and properties worth millions of naira destroyed by yet-to-be-identified gunmen who invaded the Dabna community in the Hong local government area of Adamawa State in the early hours of Monday.
Dabna is a village close to the Sambisa forest in Borno state, the den of Boko Haram.
Recall that in July 2021, gunmen attacked the same community killing 21 persons including a pregnant woman.
In a swift reaction, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola ordered a full investigation into the matter to arrest the culprits.
According to a statement by the Command’s Spokesman SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said CP Babatola also directed the deployment of operational assets with immediate effect to ensure peace and justice.
The Police Boss while appealing for calm said the Command is doing everything legally possible to detect and apprehend the suspects.
The statement read in parts: “The CP warns that attacks on innocent souls would no longer be tolerated under whatsoever guise, as the command holds the lives of citizens sacrosanct, and such unwarranted attitude would be strictly treated by extant laws”.
CP Babatola also reiterated the commitment of the Command to work with other sister security agents in protecting the fundamental rights of citizens and ensuring the protection of the lives and property of citizens.
