President-elect Bola Tinubu returned to Nigeria yesterday after being away for 34 days.
The West African Pilot News reports that the President-elect left the country on March 21 for Paris, France to rest after a hectic campaign and election season and plan his transition programme ahead of his inauguration on May 29.
Upon his arrival, Tinubu, who was accompanied by his wife, Senator Oluremi, was welcomed by a crowd of supporters and some high-ranking members of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, including the Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima; Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The President-elect confirmed his return on Twitter, saying that he is “extremely excited to be back home.”

Meanwhile, while addressing the crowd that had gathered at the airport to receive him, Tinubu expressed readiness to hit the ground running as soon as he is sworn in.
He said, “I’m happy to be back. I have rested, I’m refreshed and I’m ready for the task ahead. Forget about what the rumour mill may have told you. I’m strong, very strong.”
