The Commissioner of Police Enugu State Police Command, CP Ahmed Ammani applauding citizens’ role in the recent arrests of criminals in the state solicits continued cooperation and provision of credible information and intelligence.

CP Ammani stated this in the command’s bulletin signed by the public relations officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe.

Within the second week in the month of June 2023, 9 male criminal suspects were arrested, 3 firearms with 19 ammunitions, 1 tricycle and other incriminating weapons recovered by the police force.

2 criminal brothers- Jacob Gabriel (aged 26) and Gideon Gabriel (aged 24) were intercepted along Enugu-Onitsha highway on Thursday 8th June 2023 at about 1100hrs by police operatives of No. 3 PMF Enugu during their routine stop and search duty at Ugwuoba in Enugu state.

The duos who are from Kogi state were passengers in a commercial bus en-route Enugu and on search, eleven (11) live cartridges and a black-coloured criminal hood were recovered from them.

On Friday 9th June, police operatives of the Anti-Cultism Squad, acting on credible information alleging a case of criminal conspiracy, malicious damage, threatening violence and cult activities arrested 5 male suspects: Maduabuchi Agbougwu (aged 29), Mbah Anayochukwu (aged 28), Mbah Ifesinachi (aged 26), Anike Ebuka (aged 31) and Mbah Chiagozie (aged 28).

Searching their residence, a big locally fabricated revolver gun and another locally fabricated double-barreled pistol, eight (8) live cartridges and one (1) expended cartridge were recovered from Maduabuchi Agbougwu; weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp were recovered from all the suspects.

Recorded also on same day, Friday 9th June, police operatives serving in Ogui Police Division of Enugu the Command at about 1510hrs, arrested two male suspects, Anasonye Somtochukwu aged 20 and Ogodo Chigbogu aged 21, upon criminal suspicion.

One locally fabricated pistol and the tricycle they operate with was recovered while police continues investigation.

“All the suspects shall be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded,” DSP Ndukwe reveals.
