…pegs post-UTME registration fees at N2,000.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has set 140 as the minimum cut-off mark for admissions into universities in the 2023/24 academic session.

The Registrar of the board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this at the 2023 policy meeting on admissions to tertiary institutions on Saturday in Abuja.

Oloyede also noted that 100 has been approved as the cut off-mark for admissions into polytechnics and colleges of education.

He explained that every institution has the right to fix its individual cut-off mark but no one would be allowed to go less than the agreed minimum marks of 100 for colleges of education, 100 for polytechnics and 140 for universities.

Oloyede further said that the post-UTME registration fee for the 2023/24 academic year should not exceed N2,000.

“Any institution interested in conducting any form of screening could do so, but the charge for the screening should not exceed N2,000 only,” he said.

“It is not allowed for any institution to make candidates directly or indirectly incur further related expenses on screening exercises, such as administrative and bank charges.”

He added, “JAMB will provide for free, to all institutions access to photo images and fingerprint data of candidates, in order to curb the substitution of candidates who sat for the examinations.”

The policy meeting was attended by heads of tertiary education institutions in the country and other stakeholders in the education sector.
