A fake Senator, Ifechukwu Tom Makwe has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged €5.7m internet fraud.
A statement distributed by the EFCC on Monday said the suspect was arrested at the Guzape area of Abuja following credible intelligence about his internet-related fraud activities.
According to the statement, the suspect has defrauded a Spaniard of Euros amounting to €5.7m with different names such as; Fahad Makwe, Senator Tompolo, Tom Makwe, and Dr. Bran,
The statement added that the suspect allegedly started defrauding the victim in 2013 when he first met her on social media.
The EFCC stated said the suspect will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded.
