To ensure projects are executed according to specifications, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has urged students to monitor the contractors handling projects in various institutions across the country.
Sonny Echono, Executive Secretary of TETFund, stated this during a 30-seater brand-new Toyota Coaster bus presentation to the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Abuja.
Echono urged the student body to report erring contractors to encourage transparency in the system, noting that TETFund was also designing interventions that would address students’ hostel challenges and other issues.
“We want to be able to identify on each campus a contact person that will be able to checkmate our projects so that we can have first-hand information, even before sending our team there,” he stated.
“We are doing several engagements with other stakeholders. So, going forward, this will make our monitoring process more transparent.”
Responding, NANS President, Usman Barambu assured that NANS will conduct thorough checks across campuses to ensure that contractors who handle TETFund projects carry out such projects.
Following their request, the student body commended the board for donating a 30-seater coaster bus to them.
