State Commissioner for Industry says top 100 industries in Anambra State would export to 54 African Countries
The Anambra State Commissioner for Industry, Christian Udechukwu, has said that the state government has restored order across the state. This and more he said while speaking on Arise Television.
According to the Commissioner, the Anambra Ministry of Industry has worked out modalities for the top one hundred industries in Anambra, to export to fifty-four African countries. Speaking more on insecurity, the commissioner noted that upon assumption of office, Governor Soludo met a state where gangs of bandits were in control of some enclaves, but one year later, the story is no more the same. “There were a number of local governments that were under siege, he (Governor Soludo) made law and order his priority and with the support of gallant armed professionals deployed for Anambra, collectively, they have taken back the state. The government has reclaimed the public space,” Udechukwu said, reiterating that Governor Soludo is not a man to be intimidated and that the governor is very intentional with everything he does.
Speaking further on the current security situation in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Industry stressed that bandits used to have camps in forests, “but now, there is not one inch of uncompleted building, or forest space or private spaces, or rented properties, where they can find hiding space…Anambra is now a hostile environment for them.”
Insecurity in the Southeast took a new turn in 2021 after the chaos that followed the Endsars protest in which many police stations were razed and weapons were carted away. Things became even more complicated by the formation of the Eastern Security Network- ESN, the military wing of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra- IPOB, earlier. Not long after the Endsars protest, several security formations in the Southeast became the object of attack by an armed group christened “unknown gunmen,” who parade as freedom fighters, thereby suggesting a direct link with IPOB, ESN or both.
On investment and industry in Anambra State, the Commissioner said that his Ministry has developed a clear road map to help at least one hundred Anambra-based businesses export their products across Africa. “We are investing in industrial clusters, industrial parks, we are building new industrial zones. We are developing export processing zones. We are also unveiling a program where the top one hundred industries in Anambra will be exporting to fifty-four African countries between now and the next twelve months.”
Commenting on enabling the environment for industries, Udechukwu said that Governor Soludo has awarded in one year over four hundred kilometers of roads, which is “far more than many of his predecessors awarded in eight years.” The Commissioner who spoke on the coconut and palm tree planting across the state, observed that over one million seedlings have now been planted. “What this means”, Udechukwu said, “is that in about three years, the two hundred and fifty billion the Federal Government spends in terms of resources that are made available to manufacturers to import palm oil produce, a significant portion of that will be taken by Anambra State.”
Christian Udechukwu also hinted that these one hundred companies whose products will be exported across Africa, will eventually be listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
Mr. Udechukwu is an experienced, A-rated investment expert of international repute and he joined Governor Soludo’s administration as Commissioner for Industry, a few months ago.
