Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the Dean of the Faculty of Law University of Calabar (UNICAL) has been suspended following allegations of violating the institution’s established laws and policies.
In a letter, signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe, the suspension takes effect from Friday August 17, 2023.
The suspension of Prof. Cyril Ndifon was as a result of the Vice Chancellor’s dissatisfaction response to a query issued to Prof. Ndifon by the University Management.
The suspension letter reads in part: “Please refer to our letter Ref UC/REG/DISC.45A dated August 14, 2023, on your alleged violation of the provisions of the extant laws and policies of the University and your response to the said letter which was dated 16th August, 2023.”
“You are instructed to transfer all University property in his possession, along with your official responsibilities, to the Sub-Dean of the Faculty before vacating office.
“This investigation will be carried out by a panel that will be set up specifically for this purpose”.
“You are required to stay away from the University premises, except when responding to an invitation from the panel overseeing the investigation”.
It was reported that some female students of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Cross River State, had protested against the emergence of Prof. Cyril Ndifon as the Dean of the faculty.
The students were seen in a viral video on social media holding placards with different inscriptions alleging harassing them by the lecturer.
