No fewer than 2,000 cases of human rights abuses and violations were recorded in Kwara state this year.

Kwara State State Coordinator, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Jumoke Olaoye, disclosed this at the Biennial Convention of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Kwara State Chapter, held in Ilorin.

She said the most of the human rights abuses recorded were child abandonment and wife battering.

Chairman, Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, Kwara State Chapter, Comrade Afolabi Lukman, said the Committee would collaborate with all relevant government agencies to defend and uphold the rights of people in the state.
