The National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institution Employees, NUBIFIE, has issued a directive to banks and other financial institutions to stay off duty on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The directive is contained in a memo signed by the union’s general secretary, Mohammed I. Sheikh.

Sheikh explained that the directive complies with the two-day nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, beginning on September 5 and ending on September 6.
“The directives is imperative to get the needed attention of government and warn it of its newfound love of meddling in the internal affairs of unions rather than address the punishing economic circumstances we find ourselves,” the memo stated.
