The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC, has released the 2024 Local Government Council election timetable.
In a press release signed by Dr. Mike E. Ajogwu (SAN), Chairman ENSIEC, the election will hold on the 24th of February 2024 while political parties interested in the election are expected to obtain forms ENSIEC 7 and 7A for Chairmanship and Councillorship elections respectively from Tuesday 2nd to Monday 8th of January 2024.
All political parties are expected to return the completed nomination forms on or before Wednesday 17th of January 2024;
Lists of candidates nominated by political parties should be forwarded to the headquarters of ENSIEC from the 18th to 19th January 2024.
Meanwhile, political parties are to organize a primary election to determine candidates for the main election between the 11th and 22nd of December 2023; dates, times, and venue for the primaries should be prepared and submitted to ENSIEC unfailingly.
Candidates’ credentials will be checked from the 22nd to the 25th of January 2024 and between the 14th and 17th of February 2024 to replace unqualified candidates.
Electioneering campaigns start on the 3rd of February 2024 and end by 6:00 pm on the 23rd of February 2024.
Political parties are to forward the names of two agents to be attached to each polling booth to ENSIEC with their passport photographs which the party must endorse.
