Bandits have kidnaped Rev. Fr Thaddeus Tarhembe of the Diocese of Wukari.
The Catholic priest was taken hostage to an unknown destination by unknown gunmen who stormed his rectory in the early hours of Sunday.
The abducted priest serves at St. Ann’s Parish in Sarkin Kudu village in the Ibi County of Taraba State.
The communications director of the Wukari diocese Rev. Fr John Laikei confirmed the abduction in a statement.
“I am directed by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wukari, Most Rev. Mark Nzukwein to inform the general public of the kidnap of one of our priests, Very Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Tarhembe,” the statement reads.
“The sad event occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 29th October 2023 in the Rev Father’s rectory of his parish.”
Fr Laikei solicited prayers for Fr Tarhembe’s release.
