Shehu Ndanusa, Kwara State Commissioner for Environment said for easy identification and efficient operation of scavengers across the state, the Government will now register each of them.
Ndanusa stated this during a meeting with the executives of scavengers at the Ministry Headquarters, in Ilorin, the state capital, and said the idea will also generate more revenue for the state.
“The state government has concluded plans to regulate the operation of scavengers as another means to ensure the security of lives and properties,” he said.
In a remark, Musa Umah, Kwara State Chairman of scavengers expressed the readiness of the members to comply and operate in line with the law governing their businesses.
