Governor Hope Uzodimma of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, emerged the winner of Saturday’s off-cycle governorship poll in Imo State.

The sitting governor secured another four-year term in office with 540,308 votes, according to official results announced by the returning officer for the Imo State governorship election, Professor Abayomi Fasina.

Governor Uzodimma’s opponents Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Athan Achonu of Labour Party, LP, polled 71,503 and 64,081 votes respectively.

In Kogi State, the ruling party’s candidate Usman Ododo also won.

He polled 446,237 votes to beat his major rival Muritala Yakubu Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, who got a total of 259,052 votes.

PDP’s Dino Maleye managed to get 46,362 votes only.

Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State, just like Governor Uzodimma, also retained his seat.

The PDP candidate won the election with a total of 175,196 votes while his APC rival Timipre Sylva trailed far behind with 110,108 votes.
