The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 45 years old Wawe Nokomari for allegedly shooting his friend Mr Ham Musa under the influence of local beer.
SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, spokesman of the Police Command said Wawe, a father of 8 resident of Jabi community in Shelleng Local Government Area of the state opened fire on his friend due to minor argument leaving him critical condition.
Nguroje, said the victim is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed health facility.
“The accused had drank local beer known as “burukutu” in Hausa language as well as sweeti and mafia, while he was shot his friend who working on a rice farm on the 7th November, 2023.”
“Misunderstanding was said to have ensued between them who were both drunk and the accused used a gun he borrowed from a vigilante and commit the crime.” he said.
PPRO ststed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola had ordered the arrest of the vigilante owner of the gun, while the Criminal Investigation Department should take over the investigation.
SP Nguroje assured that the command will ensure the prosecution of the accused upon completion of investigation.
The suspect during an interrogation by Police who regretted his action, confessed of committing the crime, saying he had repented from drinking beer.
