A convoy of Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company Ltd. staff came under fire near Yenagoa, the capital city of Bayelsa State, an attack that killed four soldier escorts and two drivers.
The gunmen also kidnapped two Korean employees of the company during the attack on the East–West Road, near the town of Ahoada in Rivers State which is 36.3 km to Yenegoa, on Tuesday morning.
The foreigners were en route to their company’s headquarters in Bayelsa.
A security source who confirmed the attack said the bandits ambushed the expatriates despite heavy security presence.
“During the attack, the assailants opened fire on the convoy killing four soldiers and two civilian drivers, and subsequently abducted two Koreans in the process,” he said.
