The Jigawa State Director of Fire Service Directorate Ibrahim Gumel has disclosed that over 50 people lost their lives and properties worth N215 million were destroyed in fire incidents in the State in 2023.
Gumel, while briefing newsmen on the command’s achievements, said 250 lives and property worth over N755 million were saved in 2023 across the state in fire, drowning, and road accidents.
He added that the agency responded to 160 fire calls and 45 rescue calls from different parts of the state, advising the general public to be careful while handling fire and electricity appliances, especially during harmattan.
