A youth corps member, Peter Yunana serving in Adamawa State has slumped and died while watching Wednesday’s match between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Bafana-Bafana of South Africa.
The Corps member with NYSC registration number AD/23C/0365 who hailed from Kagoro, Kaura Local Government area of Kaduna state is serving in GSS Numan, Adamawa State slumped and died during the penalty shoot-out.
Denis Jingi, Adamawa State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps who confirmed the incident said the remains of Peter have been deposited at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital Yola, the morgue in preparation for burial in Kagoro, Kaduna state.
“Peter and his fellow corps members were watching the Nigeria vs South Africa football match and when it reached the time for the penalty kick, he told his colleagues that he wouldn’t watch the kick, so he bent down his head and later collapsed.”
“He was rushed to the Numan General Hospital by his colleagues and was confirmed dead. The corpse is deposited in the hospital’s mortuary.
“We have transported the corpse to MAUTH Yola this morning for proper preservation, pending the funeral arrangements by his parents in Kaduna state,” he said.
