The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, Lagos on Thursday convicted and sentenced one Nurudeen Nasiru to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting his Neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter and introducing her to pornography.
According to the prosecutor, the convict committed the offences on February 23, 2021, at about 3.45pm on Aminu Street, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos.
During the trial, the State Counsel, Mr Olusola Soneye, called three witnesses, a social worker, the survivor, and her father while the convict testified as a sole witness.
The confessional statement of the convict was tendered as an exhibit by the prosecution.
Delivering judgement, Justice Abiola Soladoye held that the convict sexually assaulted the survivor through the anus and also introduced her to pornography.
She also held that the prosecution was able to prove beyond reasonable doubt the two counts of defilement and indecent treatment of a child against the convict.
“Nasiru was a neighbour who goes to the room of the survivor and opens his phone to show her pornographic videos and afterwards will force her to practice what he had shown her on his phone,” Justice Soladoye said.
