The Enugu State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the appointment of Prof. Christian Ngwu as Chairman of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC); Ngwu, Christian Chimdubem, is a Professor of Mass Communication, Enugu State University of Science & Technology.

Prof. Ngwu and seven (7) other appointed members of ENSIEC were screened and confirmed during an emergency plenary on Monday; the members are Mr. Solomon Ogbu, Mr. George Ani, Mr. Arthur Ede, Mr. Paully Eze, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbodo, Mr. Emeka Ukwuaba and Mr. Ifesinachi Umeobika.

In his speech after the confirmation, the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Uche Ugwu, charged the appointees to justify their appointments by conducting a free and fair local government election.

Ugwu urged them to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

After that, the House adjourned the plenary to Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
