The Federal Government of Nigeria has debunked rumors that the country is discussing with foreign countries the establishment of foreign military bases in some parts of the country.
Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation in a statement made it categorically that the government has had no such discussions or proposals and urged the public to disregard the rumors, describing the claims as false.
Idris said the government’s statement aims to dispel misinformation and assure citizens of its stance on foreign military presence in the country.
“While Nigeria values foreign cooperation in addressing security challenges, there are no ongoing talks about hosting foreign military bases on Nigerian soil.
“The president reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing partnerships with other nations to bolster national security, in alignment with the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement said.
