The Bauchi State Government has commenced distribution of Food Palliative to Boarding and Integrated Qur’anic Tsangaya Schools across the state as part of measures to cushion the economic hardship being faced by the populace.

Dr Jamila Dahiru, State Commissioner for Education who kicked off the distribution exercise at Government Girls College Bauchi said the food commodities were provided by the State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

“The 28 benefitting schools with a cumulative student population of 8261, were allocated 312 bags of Sorghum, 275 bags of Maize, and 115 bags of Millet,” she said.

Represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Alhaji Ali Babayo, the commissioner said the present administration acknowledged the global trend of economic downturn and deemed it fit to extend the allocation of food palliative to boarding schools.

The Commissioner appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for the gesture

“I want to use this medium to appreciate security agencies especially the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC for ensuring that the commodities were delivered safely without diversion” ” she remarks.

Earlier, the Director of School Services in the ministry Malama Fatima Musa who called on the Principals to ensure judicious utilization of the items said the allocation was done based on students’ population across the benefitting schools.

Speaking on behalf of the School Managers, the State President of All Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools ANCOPSS, Comrade Rabiu Shehu noted that the food palliative to schools is timely, and assured judicious utilization of the items for the benefit of students.
