With only two weeks to the Anambra State Local Government Election slated for September 28, the Anambra State House of Assembly during plenary on Tuesday amended section 30 and section 110 of the former law, accounting for the third time the law is being amended. During the exercise on Tuesday, the amendment was read for the first time, second time, and third time and then passed.

This latest amendment of sections 30 and 110 of the Anambra State Electoral Law addressed the issue of tenure of office of elected local government officials, changing the tenure from three years as it was in the parent law, to two years.
