The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has released the estimated pump prices for Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, commonly known as petrol, sourced from the Dangote Refinery. The prices are based on the refinery’s September 2024 pricing.
According to a press statement issued by the NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, petrol prices will no longer be set by the government but will be negotiated directly between involved parties, in line with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act.
Pilot News earlier reported that over 200 trucks of NNPCL lifted petrol from the Dangote Refinery on Sunday at the cost of ₦898 per litre for nationwide distribution.
Soneye confirmed that it is currently paying for the September 2024 PMS offtake from the Dangote Refinery in US Dollars, as naira transactions are expected to commence on 1st October 2024.
He further assures Nigerians that if there is any dispute over the pricing, the NNPCL will gladly accept any discount from the Dangote Refinery and transfer the full benefit to consumers.
“The NNPC Ltd assures that if the quoted pricing is disputed, it will be grateful for any discount from the Dangote Refinery, which will be passed on 100 per cent to the general public,” Soneye stated.
As per the pricing data shared, estimated pump prices vary across regions, with Lagos at ₦950.22 per litre, while prices in other parts of the country, such as Borno State, soar to ₦1,019.22 per litre.
In Sokoto, Kano, and Kaduna States, the price is ₦999.22 per litre while it is ₦992.22 and ₦960.22 in the Federal Capital Territory and Oyo State respectively.
