The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, appreciates Enugu residents, the State Governor, and the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for their collaborative efforts in fighting criminals in the state in 2024.
Reviewing the operations, successes, and losses of the past year, CP Uzuegbu states that the year 2025’s policing priority is enhanced security and public safety.
In the Command’s official bulletin signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, criminals of varying capacities, weapons, ammunition, and criminal hideouts were busted in the year 2024 even as some gallant officers unfortunately lost their lives.
“Over 130 armed robbery suspects, 100 kidnapping or abduction suspects, 55 murder suspects, and more than 111 suspects for unlawful possession of firearms were arrested.”
“Additionally, 226 suspects involved in cultism and 450 others linked to various crimes such as burglary, stealing and fraud were also arrested.”
On recoveries, the PPRO reveals, “over 200 firearms, including 21 AK-47 rifles, 1 submachine gun, and 1 G-3 rifle; 1,863 rounds of ammunition; and 124 vehicles comprising motor vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles.”
Also, the report states that about 100 kidnapped or abducted victims were rescued.
CP Kanayo further commends other security agencies, the Neighborhood Watch Group, Forest Guards, local vigilantes, and hunters for their collaborative efforts in fighting insecurity and criminal elements in the past year.
He then calls on Enugu residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of security agencies and assures of the Command’s commitment to a more professional, community-driven, proactive, robust, and results-based policing in the year 2025.
