…Police Begin Investigation
The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a Catholic priest, Joseph Enyinaya, in connection with the alleged murder of a boy at St. Columbus Catholic Church in Amaimo, Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state.
The tragic incident took place on 31 December 2024 when the boy reportedly set off fireworks within the church premises. According to reports, the priest allegedly shot the boy during the incident.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Imo State, Henry Okoye, stated that Enyinaya has been taken into custody, and an investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The priest has been arrested, and the body of the boy has been deposited at a mortuary in Atta Ikeduru,” Okoye said.
He assured the public that the police have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the facts behind the event.
“The police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the remote facts surrounding the incident,” Okoye added.
The police spokesperson also pledged that updates on the case would be made available as the investigation progresses.
