The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress – APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, commissioned a new state secretariat of the party in Awka, Anambra State, on Saturday. The new secretariat was secured by Sir Paul Chukwuma, the leading aspirant for the November 8 Anambra governorship election as a part of his “New APC” agenda. Chukwuma also secured 21 local government offices as well as 326 ward offices for the party in Anambra, thereby demonstrating his firm commitment to the party, which was passionately commended by the various leaders of the APC on Saturday. The event which attracted all major stakeholders of the APC in Anambra State and the Southeast members of NWC, was well-attended by party members and supporters in their thousands, with most adorned in the various party uniforms.

In his opening address, the State Chairman of the APC, Chief Basil Ejidike, spoke glowingly of the immense support the party enjoys from Sir Paul Chukwuma. He also thanked Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji and Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, for their support to the party. Both Obiora Okonkwo and Nicholas Ukachukwu joined the APC less than two months ago and are contesting for the governorship of Anambra State on the party’s platform.

Speaking at the event, Sir Paul Chukwuma praised the National Chairman of the APC for his innovation and leadership of the party. Chukwuma who served as a former National Working Committee – NWC member, said that looking at the current NWC, it is evident that the National Chairman, Alhaji Ganduje, is doing very well. He also thanked Dr. Ganduje for his efforts towards ensuring that Anambra State is connected to center. “You want us to project Anambra State to the centre. Mr. Chairman, you don’t only talk, you walk your talk. You came up with the principle of demarginalization of the entire Southeast and Anambra in particular, with an addendum to connect Anambra to the centre. Mr. Chairman, we believe you. Your presence here today points to that,” Sir Chukwuma said. Chukwuma, who said he placed the APC first, revealed that the major reason the APC has become attractive is because of the work he and his team have put into the party to clean it up and make it attractive.

Earlier, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, an aspirant for Anambra Governorship on the platform of the APC while speaking, hailed Sir Paul Chukwuma for his investments in the party which has resulted in turning the party into a beautiful bride in Anambra State. Other governorship aspirants; Nicholas Ukachukwu, Obiora Okonkwo, and Chukwuma Umeoji were also given time to speak and each said they were confident that the APC would win Anambra State in November.

In his address, the APC National Chairman said the coming Anambra State governorship election will not be business as usual and that the party will work together to actualize its target. “The election will not be business as usual. All hands must be on deck. Our campaign will be in high spirits,” Dr. Ganduje said. Furthermore, the APC National Chairman reiterated that his party is ready for the election and will win Anambra State, take over the leadership of the state, and connect it to the centre.
