The Lakurawa terrorists have launched coordinated attacks on five villages in the Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing at least 10 people and injuring several others.
Among the deceased was Garba Maigari (50), while the identities of the other nine victims remain unknown.
A counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this on Monday in a post on his X handle, saying intelligence sources revealed that the affected villages include Birnin Debi, Garin Nagoro, Yar Goru, Dan Marke, and Tambo.
According to Makama, the terrorists stormed the villages around 8:48 p.m. on March 9, 2025, setting houses ablaze and shooting indiscriminately.
“Several injured victims have been taken to Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, for treatment, while the corpses of the deceased have been deposited for autopsy.
“In response, the Nigerian troops, Police and local vigilantes have been deployed to the affected areas, and normalcy has reportedly been restored,” Makama said.
