Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele and her husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello, mostly identified as JJC Skillz have pleaded guilty to the count filled against them by the Attorney General of Lagos state, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN).
The couple was arraigned for violating the lockdown order issued by the Nigerian Authorities to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
They were arraigned on Monday at the Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ogba.
On Sunday, April 5, 2020, Akindele was arrested by the state police for organising a house party despite the lockdown order issued by the government.
The party which brought numerous people together was said to be in celebration of her husband’s birthday. This is contrary to the social distancing measure which the NCDC advised Nigerians to maintain in order to contain the spread of the COVID –19.
Their offense as brought before the court pursuant to regulation 8(1)(a)(b) 17(1)(i) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease (Emergency Prevention) Regulation 2020 is punishable under Section 58 Public Health Law Cap. P.16 Vol 9, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
