Barrister Makpa Malla the Deputy Director General Media, Publicity and Communication to former Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu campaign Council in a statement on Thursday and made available to newsmen in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital condemned the act of violence, disorderliness and disrespect towards constituted authorities at the APC rally.
“While we unequivocally condemn any act of violence, disorderliness or disrespect towards constituted authorities and the traditional institution, we consider the attempt by the Nasarawa State Government to associate Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and Rtd. IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu with the incident as reckless, irresponsible, politically motivated and legally indefensible.
“The most disturbing aspect of the government’s statement is paragraph three, which expressly names of Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and Rtd. IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, The Governorship Candidate of the SDP, as suspected sponsors of the alleged disruption.
“It was a grave allegation of criminal complicity, conspiracy and sponsorship of public disorder, carrying serious reputational consequences of immediate past governor of Nasarawa State Umaru Tanko Almakura and Ex-IGP Adamu.
“Linking these personalities to an alleged criminal act without presenting any verifiable evidence, the government has crossed the boundaries of responsible public communication and enter into territory that raises serious questions of defamation, due process and abuse of governmental authority,” the statement said.
