HealthNewsNigeriaTinubu Reduces N70,000 As Subsidy For Kidney Dialysis In Federal Hospitals

As part of his magnanimity, President Bola Tinubu has approved a reduction in the cost of dialysis sessions from N50,000 to N12,000 for Nigerians battling kidney disease who are receiving medical attention in Federal Hospitals.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, who made this known in a post on X titled “ASIWAJU CARES.”

“From maternal care to kidney health, these measures show that affordability should never stand in the way of access.

“This intervention follows last year’s approval of the Maternal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (MAMII), which offers free caesarean sections in federal hospitals to boost maternal health and reduce preventable maternal and child deaths,” Bwala wrote.

The Special Adviser said the 76% subsidy is already active in 10 Federal Medical Centres and Teaching Hospitals across the six geopolitical zones.

According to him, the hospitals are Federal Medical Centre, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Maiduguri, and Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos.

Others are University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin, University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Calabar, and Federal Medical Centres in Jabi (Abuja), Owerri, Abeokuta, and Azare.
