As part of efforts to address the lingering concern over killings in Plateau State, at least 1,400 vigilantes, hunters and members of neighbourhood groups have been recruited to tackle lingering security challenges bedeviling various communities in Plateau State.
Attacks on villages have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives and the displacement of thousands of residents.
The training of the recruits is taking place amidst recurrent security challenges in various communities of Bokkos, Barikin Ladi, Mangu, Jos South and Bassa local government areas of the state.
Operation Rainbow, a state security outfit, is to train1,400 personnel drawn from the 17 LGAs of the state to strengthen the security architecture in the state.
Speaking during the commencement of the training, acting Coordinator of Operation Rainbow, Gakji Shippi, said the objective is to strengthen the security architecture in the state and form part of the mainstream security network.
The training exercise is expected to provide the participants with requisite knowledge in fighting criminality in the state.
