The Kaduna State Government has assured the Kurmin Wali, a remote community in Kajuru Local Government Area, where 177 persons were abducted during the week of their safe return.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, gave the assurance during a sympathy visit to the community to reassure families of the abducted persons and to reassure residents of their safe return unhurt.
The Governor also announced that the state government would offset the medical bills for those injured during the attack, and expressed confidence that the abducted villagers would be recovered within days.
“In Kaduna State, every life matters. We are collaborating with all security agencies to ensure that those abducted return home safely.
“We are not talking about numbers or politics. We are talking about the sanctity of human life. Whether one person or many, the responsibility of the government remains the same,” Sani said.
He said full attention is now on rescue operations, with the state working closely with the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Office of the National Security Adviser.
The governor acknowledged the initial delay in confirming the abductions, which generated controversy after the police and state government initially could not verify the incident.
Sani warned against politicizing insecurity, urging that uninformed commentary could undermine ongoing efforts.
The Governor was accompanied by Police Commissioner Muhammad Rabiu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Sule Shuaibu (SAN), Kajuru LGA Chairman Dauda Madaki, and Senior Security Officials.
