The Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano State, Hamza Durya, who was kidnapped recently had been rescued by operatives of DSS.
Mr Durya was kidnapped at his residence in Durya village, Kibiya LGA, prompting the immediate mobilisation of security agencies across the state to secure his release and apprehend those responsible.
According to reports, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Kano Command, successfully rescued the victim and arrested two suspected kidnappers, who sustained gunshot injuries during the operation.
In a statement issued by the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government said the success underscores the effectiveness of ongoing security strategies across the state’s 44 local government areas.
The state government described the development as a major breakthrough and commended the professionalism and dedication of security agencies in safeguarding lives and property.
It also acknowledged the support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in providing resources and enabling an improved operational capacity for security agencies.
The government noted that collaboration between citizens and security agencies remains crucial in strengthening the state’s overall security architecture.
The government reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace and security and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
