NewsNigeriaPoliticsGovernor Fintiri to fly APC flag as Senatorial candidate

Following the conduct of senatorial primaries by the All Progressives Congress, Adamawa State Governor of Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has emerged as the flagbearer of the party for the Adamawa North Senatorial District.
His emergence was unopposed following the non-clearance of Abdul-Rahman Kwaccham by the party’s National screening committee.
The incumbent senator for the zone, Sen. Amos Yohanna, did not purchase the nomination to seek re-election for a second term, which pave way for Fintiri to become lone candidate.
In the Southern Senatorial zone, the immediate past Adamawa State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Chief Felix Tangwami, emerged the winner after defeating former Senator for the zone, Senator Grace Bent, and retired Federal Permanent Secretary, Ismaila Numan.
However, the party has suspended the election in the Adamawa Central Senatorial District due to the late arrival of electoral materials in parts of the zone.
The state APC spokesman, Victor Dogo, said the party decided to postpone the exercise to ensure fairness across all affected local government areas.
“Conducting the election in some areas while others were unable to participate would have undermined the credibility of the process, a new date for the Adamawa Central Senatorial primary would be announced soon,” he said.
