Voters across Adamawa State, Northeast Nigeria would today Saturday 13/6/2026 goes to the polls to elect local government chairmen and councillors in the 21 LGAs.
The election followed expiration of the tenure of the current Chairmen and councillors of the local government in the state.
Polling booths is expected to open from 8: AM and closed by 4:00 PM local time, already Police authority in the state have restricted movement within the period of the elections.
The Adamawa State government also suspended the monthly exercise observed in the state every last Saturday of the month to enable eligible voters partake in the exercise.
The State electoral body, Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), empowers to conduct such exercise at the local government have already distributed elections materials both sensitive and non-senstive to its offices at the local government level for the exercise.
Eleven political parties have fielded councillorship candidates to include APC, APP, APM, SDP, ADC, PDP, YPP, BOOT, ACCORD, NNPP, and AP.
However, only four political parties have fielded candidates for both chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state, while others fielded only councillorship positions.
The chairman, Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) Alhaji Mohammed Umar confirmed the deployment of personnel and election materials for the exercise.
He assured political parties the electoral umpire will conduct free and fair elections.
