The Rural Electrification Agency has approved 20 solar-powered mini grids and are currently being deployed across Adamawa State to provide electricity to underserved communities.
The Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe disclosed this on Monday at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Kofare, Mbamba and Saminaka Solar Hybrid Interconnected Mini Grid in Adamawa state.
He said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to improving electricity supply across the country, describing the interconnected solar mini-grid project as another milestone in the ongoing power sector reforms.
The Minister added that more renewable energy projects would be implemented in Adamawa State.
On his part, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri described the project as a major step toward addressing energy poverty and expanding access to reliable electricity in Adamawa State.
He said the state government allocated land free of charge for the project to facilitate its implementation.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment for renewable energy development.
