In an effort to improve the remuneration of pensioners, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved the upward review of pensions for retired civil servants in the State from less than N10,000 to N50,000 monthly with effect from August, 2026.
The governor made the disclosure while featuring on a live special programme on Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation ABC Yola on Friday, described as unacceptable the situation where some retired civil servants received less than N10,000 as monthly pension.
Fintiri explained that the decision was part of his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and retirees, saying pensioners deserved better welfare in recognition of their years of dedicated service to the state.
He stated that his government remained focused on fulfilling the promises made to the people of Adamawa State, and that all ongoing projects initiated by his administration would be completed before the expiration of his tenure.
According to him, key projects include the International Conference Hall, a shopping complex, the NYSC Orientation Camp, the Mother and Child Hospital, and other critical infrastructure across the state.
While at the ABC Yola premises, Governor Fintiri was taken round the ongoing reconstruction of the station’s studios and the installation of newly procured FM and AM transmitters by the state government.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed so far and directed the contractor to ensure the speedy completion of the remaining work, including the installation of the new equipment to enhance radio coverage across the state.
On security, Governor Fintiri said his administration will continue to work with security agencies to sustain peace across Adamawa State, noting that the creation of new chiefdoms had also contributed to improved security and strengthened local administration.
He stated that his government had restored peace in many communities previously affected by insecurity and pledged to sustain measures to protect lives and property.
Governor Fintiri called on the people of Adamawa State to safeguard public infrastructures provided by the government to stand the test of time and continue supporting government programs.
