Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has ordered an investigation into the alleged sale of hospital equipment worth millions of naira, donated by a member representing Umuahia-Ugya constituency, to the General Hospital in the Toto Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor has ordered the Commissioner for Health, Honorable Gaza Gomna, to immediately investigate and arrest the management of the General Hospital, Umuahia, in the Development Area of Toto Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Sule gave the directive while inaugurating the newly appointed Commissioners, advisers, and others at Government House in Lafia, the state capital, describing the act as a crime against humanity.
He instructed the Commissioner of Health to investigate, fire, and prosecute all perpetrators to serve as an example to others.
Sule explained that the items were donated by Ibrahim Sa’at Abdullahi, a member representing Umuahia-Ugya constituency, to the General Hospital Umuahia development area as part of his commitment to strengthening the state’s health system, but were sold by the hospital officials in the area.
The items allegedly sold by the management include: mattresses, ceiling and standing fans, among others.
“Quickly arrest them and prosecute them. Because their own corruption is at the highest limit. “It’s a corruption of lack of sympathy and lack of consideration, even for people who are sick.
“I’m waiting for the honorable commissioner, and I expect that report by the end of this week,” the Governor queried.
The governor charged the newly appointed officials with being prudent and transparent in discharging their official duties.
“You must uphold the principles of fairness, transparency, professionalism, and accountability in all your deliberations,” he advised
