Adamawa State Government has identified 38 cultural heritage sites across the sate aimed at promoting the sites and expose them to a wider audience.
The Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Aloysius Babadoke, stated this in Yola during activities marking 2026 World Tourism Day celebration, with the theme: “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign the Tourism Sector”.
He said the state would harness its cultural resources to develop the tourism sector and create more opportunities for the younger generation.
Babadoke restated government commitment to use culture and tourism as tools to promote unity, youth development and socio-economic growth in the state.
He explained that the celebration normally provide an avenue for the people of the state to showcase the state’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.
“The celebration was aimed at showcasing the cultural diversity of Adamawa and creating greater awareness of the state’s tourism potential, let me remind you that the state government is working assiduously to complete and commission a standard amusement park in Jimeta, Yola North local government area.
“The facility, when completed, would attract more visitors, thereby contributing to tourism development in the state and create employment opportunities as well as provide recreation,” Babadoke said.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Paulina Yusuf commended the state government for supporting the ministry, and also appreciated traditional rulers and other stakeholders for their contributions towards promoting culture and tourism in the state.
She said their participation has demonstrated the importance of collaboration between government, traditional institutions and communities in preserving and promoting cultural heritage in the state.
The celebration featured cultural displays by different traditional groups who showcased their cultural heritage as part of efforts to promote tourism and attract visitors to the state.
