The very filthy fight between the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Ms. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the Minister for Communications and Digital Economy has transcended beyond normalcy. Her twitter outbursts may have angered top Islamic stalwarts close to Aso Rock –now a push for her removal is imminent, WAP reliably gathered.
Dabiri-Erewa had accused Dr. Pantami of using gunmen to eject her agency from a previous office space at the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) building. When Dr. Pantami dismissed the accusation as lies and narrating his own side. Ms. Dabiri-Erewa then fired another accusation that may have poked into Dr. Pantami’s personality as a Muslim. Ms. Dabiri-Erewa accused him of sexism. Her tweet (unedited) reads:

“An Islamic scholar should not lie Hon Minister. (Ph.D. )You did that to me cos I am a woman. Your disrespect for women is legendary Left the ugly incident behind me since Feb. But pls release all our office equipment. Public office is transient.”
But her tone may have left some hypothetical questions about Islam and women. Most Muslims see it see her comment as out of order, it was gathered. Phone calls have been buzzing since yesterday among top Muslim members and leaders of the All Progressive Alliance (APC) who are seriously weighing in on officially demanded her removal, the West African Pilot News gathered.
“Was she insinuating that that Islamic scholars don’t respect women, or what? I don’t get it”, a top Muslim member of the APC was quoted as saying. A source close to Aso Rock confirmed that the Presidency was aware of the public squabble but declined to comment further.
Another source claimed that top party members were angered that Ms. Dabiri-Erewa dragged an old official matter to the social media to embarrass the Minister whom she was angry with but ended up embarrassing the entire party.
Furthermore, the West African Pilot News gathered that the issue may not just be about office space but the furtherance of a behind-the-scene ugly fight among party members in the Buhari’s administration. Since the death of the late Chief of Staff Abba Kyari, Buhari’s loyalists and appointees have been split into destructive cliques to protect their prospects. “It is not normal that Dabiri-Erewa started this issue and all of a sudden, it’s all over the social media and newspapers” said an informant.
The West African Pilot News could not confirm if the current squabble is connected to the ongoing investigations into activities of the late Chief of Staff. However, all appointments and approvals made by Late Kyari without President Muhammadu Buhari’s permission are under scrutiny, and also, The West African Pilot News gathered that there is a very high tension among appointees who are seriously unsure about their positions in the Administration.
