ABUJA — The Senate has rejected the request of President Muhammadu Buhari to amend section 84 of the Electoral Act. The section in question prevented the appointees of political office holders from contesting from election from party primary except they resign. The request was thrown out after the Senate Leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi of APC Kebbi North, made the lead debate for the second reading of the bill on Wednesday.
