Matthew Knowles, the former manager of daughter Beyonce and Kelly Rowland during their years in Destiny’s Child, is opening up about a “poor decision” he made that led to some trouble for his then-teenage daughter.

Knowles — who is currently promoting his new book, Destiny’s Child: The Untold Story — sat down for an interview with VladTV, and revealed that in the early days of the group, he decided to put “both Destiny’s Child and Jagged Edge on the same tour bus.”

According to the music manager, this ended badly and resulted in Beyonce and Rowland allegedly being harassed by two members of the all-male R&B group, although he didn’t mention any particular member of Jagged Edge by name.

“I got a call from Kelly and Beyoncé… saying that they were constantly being harassed by two of the members in Jagged Edge,” Knowles continued. “I couldn’t have that.”

“Now remember, the girls are minors. They’re 16 years old. The guys are 21, 22 years old,” Knowles said. “I have a fiduciary duty with minors, by the law. There’s a certain way I have to manage that.”

“I got a call from Kelly and Beyoncé… saying that they were constantly being harassed by two of the members in Jagged Edge,” Knowles continued. “I couldn’t have that.”

“I literally had to put the guys off the bus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana,” Knowles added. “That began all of this drama.”

The drama to which Knowles is referring revolves around the two other original members of Destiny’s Child, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett, deciding to seek out a different manager without telling Knowles first.

Knowles recounted how he ended up speaking with the executives at Sony Music and having Roberson and Luckett replaced, which is when Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin joined the group.

Meanwhile, he addressed the situation with Jagged Edge one final time when asked how he, as a father and not a manager, deal with grown mean trying to “sleep” with his teenage daughter.

“We won’t talk about that on camera,” Knowles said with a slight laugh. However, he did not expressly confirm that the alleged harassment was necessarily sexual in nature.

ET has reached out to the members of Jagged Edge for comment. Neither Beyonce nor Rowland have publicly commented on Knowles’ remarks.
