Enugu state Primary Healthcare Development Agency, ENPHDA, has announced plans to commence the January 2020 Sub National Immunization plus Days, SNIPD, in the state.

The four Immunization plus days, which will start on Saturday 18th to Tuesday 21st January, 2020, will prevent children below five years from contacting Poliomyelitis infection that kills infected child.

This was contained in a statement released by the Executive Secretary of the Agency, George Ugwu, on Wednesday in Enugu.

The statement said that the immunization campaign involves movement of trained and authorized workers to administer Oral Polio Vaccine, OPV, into the mouths of children from day of birth to five years of age.

ENPHDA Executive Secretary disclosed that the health workers will visit homes, schools, churches and markets to give the vaccine to them, noting that other Routine Immunization will continue in various Health Centres for children under two years.

While hinting that the Oral Polio Vaccine will be flagged on Friday, Ugwu urged parents and caregivers to make available their children under the stipulated age for the immunization exercise.
