The former governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdulazizi Yari has berated the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for staging nationwide protest against the judgment of the Supreme Court that on January 14, 2020 sacked Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo state.

Ex-governor Yari who surprisingly paid a visit to the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja said that PDP was making noise and intimidating the judiciary about the Imo case.

The former governor who came in company with Senator Wammako, former governor of Sokoto state said they came to felicitate with the national on the victory of the party in Imo state.

“We just came to visit the national chairman on the issue of Supreme Court judgment in Imo State and also the intimidation by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their making noise about the issue of Imo.

“If the PDP is making noise on issue of Imo state judgment, what about Zamfara?  What are we going to say? Did we make any protest? We did not come out to the streets and protest after the entire Nigerians said the judgment of Zamfara is a miscarriage of justice because it has never happened in the history of judiciary and the laws are very clear of what they are supposed to do but they did it otherwise.  So, we kept mute because we are the ruling party.

“So, we came to discuss with the chairman definitely that one or two things must be done to put the issue of Imo judgment to rest,” he said.

Yari’s visit to Oshiomhole took observers by surprise as the feud between the duo was the major reason APC did not field candidates in Zamfara in the 2019 elections as determined by the courts. The national chairman and the former governor were at daggers drawn to the point of making open verbal threats against each other in the build up to the last elections.

On the issue of the worsening security in the country, Alhaji Yari disagreed with those calling for the sack of the service chiefs saying, “I don’t know whether changing of security chiefs will be the solution or getting the right equipment for them or facilities to deal with situation or having the minds to clear what we have on ground is the issue. Many hands have to come on desk both the legislature and executive and other meaningful Nigerians that mean well for this country to address this issue of insecurity.”

The former governor who was overwhelmed by the security situation in his state that he abdicated his responsibility as the chief security officer of the state believes that it would take much more than sacking the service chiefs to stem the rising insecurity in the country.
