Mrs Rasheedat Adegboye, Chairperson of Nigerian Army Officers Wives’ Association (NAOWA) 82 Division Enugu has donated some items to widows of fallen soldiers and officers of the division.

The items included food and non-food items (soaps and toiletries) as well as an undisclosed amount of cash to the widows.

Adegboye, who is the wife of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Maj.-Gen. Lasisi Adegboye, made the donation to the widows on Friday at Abakpa Military Cantonment, Enugu.

The NAOWA chairperson noted that the donations was to assist and encouraged the widows to stay-at-home during this period of COVID 19 pandemic and lockdown.

Adegboye said; “The welfare was donated to satisfy the needs of the widows during the COVID-19 lockdown and to make sure they are at least comfortable in their homes.

“I decided to donate the little I can so as to ensure that the widows will not lack at this period of the lockdown,’’ she said.

Responding, Mrs Patience Odogwu,  the widows’ representative, commended and appreciated the efforts of the NAOWA chairperson for placing the welfare of the widows as top priority.

“The NAOWA chairperson has always put us as her priority and we are immensely grateful,’’ Odogwu, who is also the Assistant Coordinator, Military Widows Association Enugu Chapter,” said.

In a related development, Adegboye also visited the patients on admission at 82 Division Medical Services and Hospital.

She also donated cartons of bottled water, gift package containing beverages, laundry soap, soft drinks, disinfectants and other items to encourage them toward quick recovery.
