The Nigeria Army at Nsukka checkpoint has intercepted over 30 vehicles loaded with passengers intending to pass through the state’s borders.

They disclosed that the passengers who were mostly Northerners hid with bags of food items, which are allowed into the state as essential commodities.

Some other passengers also revealed that they were heading to North from Port Harcourt, River State. According to them, “We passed through Bonny River to cross the Rivers State’s land boundaries before boarding this vehicle through Enugu State, to our destinations. We desire to return to our native homes and loved ones to face the inherent challenges occasioned by COVID-19”.

The security officials who escorted the passengers out of the state warned other intending travelers to stay at home and keep away from Enugu State, as such outright flouting of the State Government’s directives will not be condoned.
