The Ugo Touch of Life Foundation, U-TOLF, a pet project of the Enugu State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi in collaboration with Unilever Nigeria Limited today donated relief materials to less privileged persons across the 17 Local Government Areas of the State to ensure proper hygiene amongst them.
The toiletries donated by the Unilever Company include cartons of Close Up toothpaste, Life Buoy soap, Sunlight detergent, Omo, Lux, Pears powder, among others.
Mrs. Ugwuanyi in her presentation stated that the gesture was informed by the importance of personal hygiene, particularly handwashing, which is recommended as a preventive measure in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 disease. She further disclosed that food items are already being distributed.
“These products were donated to U-TOLF by Unilever Nigeria Limited for onward distribution to the less privileged. But we will hand them over to the Chairpersons of the 17 Local Government Areas who in turn are mandated to identify and distribute to the poorest of the poor in the rural communities”.
“The Unilever Nigeria Limited has done nobly by this donation as corporate social responsibility and we appreciate this kind gesture” Mrs. Ugwuanyi further said.
Acknowledging receipt of the items on behalf of other Chairpersons, Mrs. Ugochi Onah, wife of Udenu Local Government Chairman, expressed profound gratitude to Mrs. Ugwuanyi for her generosity and motherly care for the people of the State especially the less privileged and the vulnerable groups.
She also appreciated Unilever Nigeria Limited for the presentation of the items and promised that they will distribute them to the targeted beneficiaries as directed by the Governor’s wife.
