The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has commended Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara on the appointment of Dr. Bashir Maru as his Deputy Chief of Staff.

The National President of NYCN, Mr. Solomon Adodo, in a statement in Abuja, described the appointment of Maru, as a strategic step that would open new vistas of achievement for the government and people of the state.

Adodo said that Dr. Maru would further add impetus to the ingenuity and leadership dexterity of the governor in handling critical issues confronting the state such as banditry, COVID-19, amongst others.

He described the governor as a goal-getter and one totally committed to providing out-of-the-box solutions to governance.

The NYCN boss added that the council was not surprised that the governor appointed Maru who also had devoted his knowledge and time over the years for the betterment of society.

“Gov. Matawalle has within a short time in office proven to have what it takes to address the challenges of governance.

“Prior to his emergence, Zamfara was almost taken over by bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements.

“But the ingenuity brought by the governor has seen peace return to the hitherto troubled zone.

“Welfare of civil servants and the general populace, as well as infrastructure development, are all receiving due attention.

“The governor has further demonstrated his love for a better society by appointing a youth with sterling qualities for development to serve in such a critical position in heeding to our clamour for youth inclusion in leadership.

“Being a former President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), National President, Nigerian Medical Students Association, amongst several other critical responsibilities he has held, we are confident that Dr. Maru is thus a round peg in a round hole,” Adodo said.

The NYCN further pledged to support the state government to deliver its mandate to the people of the state particularly on issues that would promote economic, social, and political interests of the teeming youth.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Maru was Vice President, International Federation of Medical Students Association.
